PARAXYLENE
p-xylene is an aromatic hydrocarbon. It is one of the three isomers of dimethyl benzene, collectively known as xylenes. p- stands for para- and indicates that the two methyl groups in p-xylan occupy diametrically opposite substitution positions 1 and 4.
Based on end-user, paraxylene market is segmented into plastic Industry, Textile industry. Paraxylene is widely used as a raw material (or “building block”) to produce industrial chemicals, especially terephthalic acid (TPA), purified terephthalic acid (PTA) and dimethyl-terephthalate (DMT). Paraxylene is mainly used in the textile market for polyester fabric applications.
PURIFIED TEREPHTHALIC ACID (PTA)
Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA) is a very important raw material used to make various products, including polyester fabrics. It is an organic compound produced commercially through the oxidation of paraxylene by oxygen in air. Most PTA is consumed in the development of polyester resins such as polyester films, polyester fiber and yarn, and PET material bottles.
The growth of the purified terephthalic acid (PTA) market is primarily driven by increasing demand for PTA in the textile and packaging industries, continued urbanization, and improvement in the lifestyles of consumers in Asia. The expansion of end-use markets such as bottling and packaging and fiber and yarn is also driving demand for PTA.
POLYVINYL ALCOHOL (PVA)
Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), obtained by hydrolysis from polyvinyl acetate, is a crystalline polymer that is easily degradable by biological organisms and soluble in water.
PVA is used to give textile yarns more strength and make paper more resistant to oils and greases. It is also used as a component of adhesives and emulsifiers, as a water-soluble protective film and as a starting material for the preparation of other resins.
POLYAMIDE
The name nylon refers to a group of polymers called polyamides. Nylons are characterized by amide groups (CONH) and include a broad group of materials. Polyamides (nylons) are used in fabrics, carpets and many other materials.
Most polyamides tend to be semi-crystalline and generally have good stiffness and thermal and chemical resistance, but are affected by strong acids, alcohols and alkalis.
VOLGAMIDE
The PA6IMNC102 grade is a simple, colorless polyamide 6 called Volgamid. This grade is specific for the injection molding process and has good mechanical and thermal properties.
Uses include aircraft and automobile manufacturing industries, nets and ropes, clothing fibers, electronic and electrical industries, musical instruments (strings, three-string violins), and consumer and industrial products.
